Privacy policy
RemindThat (提提我 in Chinese; “the app”) respects and protects your privacy. This policy explains how the app handles your information.
We don’t collect any personal data
The app has no account system and no business servers. Your records, photos, categories and settings are stored only in the app’s sandbox on your device. The developer does not collect, upload, sell or share any of your personal data with third parties, and the app uses no analytics or advertising SDKs. The app’s data folder is excluded from iCloud device backups.
Photos and text recognition
The app accesses the camera or your photos only when you take a photo, scan a code or choose a photo from your library. Each record keeps up to 4 photos. The text in each photo is recognised on the device by Apple Vision and is never uploaded. Photos are re-encoded before saving to remove metadata such as location; cancelling an entry leaves no photo behind, and deleting a photo or a record also deletes its photo files.
Voice
By default, Apple’s on-device speech recognition is used and your voice never leaves the device. If you turn off “On-device recognition” in Settings, audio is sent to Apple for processing, subject to the Apple Privacy Policy. The app does not keep recordings; only the transcript is saved in the record.
Optional AI Assistant
The AI Assistant is off by default. Only after you add your own model (API address, model and API key) in Settings and turn it on does the app send content directly to the service you chose, in these cases:
- You tap “AI” on the confirm page;
- On-device recognition of a photo or voice note isn’t sure (for example, no name or date was recognised) and you have turned on “Ask AI automatically when recognition is unsure”. You can turn this off at any time in Settings › AI Assistant.
In these two cases, what is sent is the recognised text of the one record you are confirming, the content of the confirm page and the category names (plus that record’s photos, up to 4, if the model accepts images). AI results only fill in the confirm page and are saved only after you confirm.
- You tap “Ask AI” on the detail page of expired or soon-to-expire medicine or documents. Only that record’s name, category, expiry date and note are sent — no photos. The general steps the AI gives are shown on the detail page only and are not saved.
No other records are sent. How the service handles the data is governed by the provider’s terms; the developer does not receive this data. Each model’s API key is stored separately in the system Keychain and is never included in backups.
Notifications
Notifications are used only for the local expiry reminders you set for your records. They are triggered on the device by the system and never pass through any server.
Transfer with a computer (optional)
The app exchanges data with a computer only when you scan the QR code shown by RemindThat on that computer in Settings › Transfer with Computer, and tap “Send to Computer” or “Receive from Computer”. The transfer happens directly within the same local network, encrypted with the one-time key in the QR code (AES-256-GCM), without passing through any server; the developer cannot receive this data either. The app only connects to local network addresses, and iOS asks for “Local Network” permission the first time. What is sent is the same as an exported backup (records, photos, categories and the reminder time — no API keys or calendar event IDs). Before receiving from the computer you confirm once more, and your data before the replacement is kept automatically so you can bring it back.
System Calendar (optional)
“Sync to Calendar” is off by default. Only when you turn it on in Settings does the app ask for calendar access and write dated, unfinished records (name, expiry date or to-do time, alerts, note and purchase link) to a “RemindThat” calendar; when a record is changed, completed or deleted, its event is updated or deleted too. By default the calendar is “On My iPhone”, so calendar data stays only on this device; the app never sends calendar data to the developer or any server. If you choose to write to iCloud, Apple syncs it to your devices and to Calendar in iCloud (subject to the Apple Privacy Policy). Event IDs are kept only on this device and are not included in backups. Turning the switch off deletes the events the app created. Declining calendar access does not affect saving records or local reminders.
Backups
You decide where backup files are saved (for example in the Files app or iCloud Drive). A backup contains your records (including purchase links), all photos, categories and reminder times, but not API keys or calendar event IDs. A backup is a plain file with an integrity check, not an encrypted file, so please keep it safe.
Deleting data
Deleting the app deletes all the data it stores. You can also delete any record in the app.
Children’s privacy
The app does not collect personal information from anyone, including children.
Changes to this policy
If this policy is updated, the update will be posted on this page with a new effective date.
